2003 Whooping Crane Migration

November 8, 2003

 

Oldham County, Kentucky - Despite heavy frost this morning, the migration team and whooping cranes were able to take off and cross the Indiana border and head into Kentucky. A crowd of about 300 people gathered at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge to watch the departure.

 

The team covered a distance of 47.8 miles today, bring the total distance so far to 480.8 miles.
