26: Hendrix/Morgan Counties, IN - The migration team was able to take off today, although later than usual
due to uncooperative weather. After a 9:40 a.m. departure, the flock split
into two groups. The first group, comprised of 13 whooping cranes and
two pilots, flew for a little over an hour and covered 32 miles. They
landed in Hendrix County, Indiana, for a total migration distance of 367.5
miles. The second group, made up of two pilots and the remaining three
whoopers, had a better go of it, covering 56 miles and landing in Morgan
County, Indiana, for a total distance of 391.5 miles.
